Dear Colleagues, Community Leaders, Elected Officials and La Casa Members:
You are cordially invited to La Casa de la Herencia Cultural Puertorriqueña’s Cena de Monte Adentro, scheduled for Saturday, October 16, 2021 from 5:00 pm to 8:00 pm. This event takes place at the main floor gallery of El Barrio’s Artspace PS 109, located at 215 East 99 Street, in Manhattan.
In keeping with La Casa’s mission, this year we honor and celebrate Ms. Betty Lugo, elected Judge for the NYC Civil Court in Manhattan’s 2nd Municipal Court District, New York County. Ms. Lugo is a founding member of Pacheco & Lugo, PLLC, the first Latina women owned law firm in New York, established at One World Trade Center in 1992.
With much gratitude we remember Graciano Matos, La Casa’s late Board Treasurer, and commemorate singer/composer Ismael Rivera El Sonero Mayor, and other musicians from the Puerto Rican/Latino community that have passed recently and have left their musical legacies for us to enjoy and learn from.
For entertainment and a cultural musical experience, we open the event with La Casa’s Conjunto Típico, led by Luis Rodríguez; La Casa’s Cuatro Music Director, and continue the celebration with Avenida B Salsa Dura, the event’s featured band. DJ Victor Moczo will also be joining us for a most enjoyable and danceable evening. During Cena de Monte Adentro we also enjoy one of the most delightful treasures of our Puerto Rican gastronomy, a variety of dishes reflective of the Puerto Rican Cocina Criolla.
We are very grateful to our sponsors: Ponce Bank, Empirical Greens/Ron del Azucarero, NY Central Air and El Barrio’s Artspace PS 109. Additional sponsorship information is forthcoming. Cena de Monte Adentro is open to the general public and is wheelchair accessible.
